Videos
Last year I purchased a digital based video camera, a JVC Everio (GZMG555). It's a nice camera: it takes 5 mega-pixel images in wide-screen format and has a 30 gigabyte, internal hard disk drive. I'm still not sure what to do with it and am slow to experiment with it: only two videos in over a year.
Pigeons by the Duomo
In Venice the local government has been trying to eliminate the pigeons since they cause damage to the old buildings and statues. They have been making it illegal to feed the pigeons. This has worked well. However, now in Milan men roam around in front in the piazza offering tourists bird food to attract the pigeons for taking their picture. Then they harrass the tourist for money: a euro or two for a few cents worth of bird feed. It's irritating to the tourists to be acosted by these people to take the bird feed and for those who mistakenly do, it's even worse to be abused to pay them more than a euro. But it's even worse for the architecture and public art work. I wish the city would prevent these hustlers and eliminate the pigeons from the piazza. The number of pigeons is increasing rapidly over the last year: the guys pushing bird feed may have shifted from Venice.
