Piedmont
Piedmont is a region of Italy, located in the north-west corner of the country on the mainland—at the borders of France and Switzerland, but not quite touching the coast on the south side of the region. It’ a fairly mountaineous region. The people speak Italian and some speak French. The capital is Torino (Turin in English).

Turin
After more than two years of living in Milan, I've finally pushed myself out the door to see Torino (a.k.a., Turin). It's less than two hours away by train—that includes a few stops along the way. Being the end of December and as far north as we are, the sun light was minimal as it doesn't rise very high in the sky even at noon. I only went for the afternoon. I probably should have waited for sunnier, warmer weather and a day when I could have spent more time, but I was tired of excuses. So I went. These are my photographs from that quick trip.
Domodossola
Domodossola is a small town, less than 20,000 people, located at the base of the Italian Alps, at a passage way into Switzerland and near the merging of two rivers coming off of the mountains. There is a small train station with regional trains coming here from Italy and Switzerland. However, I went here with two American friends of mine with a car.
