This year's MySQL Developer's Conference was held in Heidelberg, Germany. These are photographs taken from that trip, which lasted ten days for me. They include pictures with my new zoon lens.
These photographs were taken at the castle in Heidelberg. The castle has major damage to it from centuries ago. It's situated at the top of a hill, looking down on the city. The album includes some shots of the city taken from the castle.
These photographs are of buildings, churches, and general scenery in Heidelberg. They include photographs along the main street and various plazas in the old section of the city, as well as along the river. There are a few shots taken inside some of the old churches.
To fully appreciate and record the experience of visiting Heidelberg, I've included in this album photographs of people. Many of these photos are of people from the area, but some include tourists. Most shots were taken with a zoom lens with the subjects unaware that they were being photographed.
Near Heidelberg is the Burg Guttenberg. A burg is a small castle I'm told. The baron who resides at this castle is a raptor bird lover and has established a bird sanctuary to include breeding and rehabilitation of wild eagles, falcons, owls, and vultures. These photographs include photos of some of the birds in cages or on their perches, as well as many from a show that the baroness presented along with her colleagues.
These are a few photographs I took of plants and birds in and around Heidelberg. They don't include the birds that were in capitivity at the Guttenberg Castle.
